This is a summary video. For the entire sermon, see the end of this post.
I hope these words break your heart like they do mine.
Nearly a month ago, on April 27, 2011, a man who loved the Most High with all of his heart, soul and mind – and definitely with his life – left this earth. I have been deeply moved and stirred in my soul by this man, his testimony, his teaching, his life. The man I speak of is “Brother Dave” or you may know him as David Wilkerson.
I first time I heard of Brother Dave when I was a young girl through the story of “The Cross and the Switch Blade”. Our family just rented this movie through Netflix and watched it this week. It was made in the 70s, but in spite of the music, it’s a very powerful testimony of who this man was at the beginning of his ministry. Next on our list is “Run, Baby, Run” – a story of Nicky Cruz, whose life was touched because of the burden David Wilkerson had for street kids in NYC. We are also reading a book by Nicky Cruz as a family titled “One Holy Fire”… but that is for another post =)
I don’t know all the details of Brother Dave’s life, but I know he founded World Challenge, Times Square Church in NYC, Teen Challenge and that near the end of his earthly life he was planning another ministry outreach. He ministered to others right until the end and his last entry, on the date he left this world, seems very timely. You can read it here: David Wilkerson’s Final Message
His son, Gary’s, words give a most accurate description of who this man truly was. I pray that your life will be touched as you read and that you will catch the vision Brother Dave had for the world, but especially for the poor and needy.

New Opportunity For Ministry

My daughters and I had the privilege of attending a banquet for our local pregnancy outreach center last night. To say it touched my heart would be an understatement.
We heard the testimony of a young mom whose mind was changed and thus her life and her sons lives were changed because of this ministry.
We saw a live ultrasound of a 12 week old baby in utero.
And we had the fantastic opportunity to hear Carol Everett speak. What a powerful testimony of grace, forgiveness and a truly changed life. Elohim is good. He is merciful.
If you want to read her testimony, visit this page Carol Everett’s Testimony
Here is a review of her book, Blood Money
You can purchase it on Amazon
And here is a YouTube trailer of a new movie they made from the book
You can purchase the Video at BloodMoneyFilm.com
My oldest daughter and I decided that we are going to volunteer our time to help this ministry in any way possible. It’s so easy to stay in our own safe little group with other people who are likeminded, but there is a hurting world out there and we may be the only glimpse of our Savior that they will ever see. We need to shine His light! Family ministry is such a wonderful way to do this.
One of the things Carol spoke about was Planned Barrenhood, and no that’s not a typo. The agenda begins in elementary school and it’s a powerful one. Their aim is to gain the confidence of the youth and turn them against their parents. The sad part to me, is that this battle actually began many years ago with a lady named Margaret Sanger. You may know her as the founder of birth control and the organization which is really called Planned Parenthood.
You can read some of her opinions here.
My dear friend, can you see that birth control is not much different than abortion? Can you see how that type of thinking paved the way for abortion? After you read her arguments, you can see that they are all the same ones used when a woman wants an abortion. Convenience. The baby is unwanted. Can’t afford it right now. Etc…
Our Creator and the Giver of Life says that children are a GIFT. HE opens the womb (Genesis 30:22), HE closes the womb (1Samuel 1:5). Do we believe that? Can we trust Him? The woman who first promoted birth control had an agenda. How CAN we agree with that agenda?
I do hope that you will prayerfully consider what you can do to promote awareness of this horrific act of abortion murder. Please pray, give, volunteer, pass around emails, share this post, whatever you can do. Let’s educate young girls and all women about the sweet little baby that is in the womb ~ a human life… What a blessing that little life is to those who open their heart to receive it and how tragic it is to end that precious, innocent life with a legal murder.

We received a Netflix movie in the mail today. I first saw this movie recommended on the AFA(American Family Association) website. Then a friend of mine asked if I had heard of them. This week I was reminded of them again on a website I visited, so I moved the movie up to the first position. We watched it today and then we went to a Christian bluegrass concert and they were selling it at their table… coincidence? =)
What is so special about the Waller family?
Here is the description on the movie sleeve:
Fleeing an 80-hour-a-week job and the comforts of suburbia, Tommy Waller moves his 13 person family to a secluded Amish and Mennonite community in rural Tennessee, where they live an electricity-free live as organic farmers. Filmmaker Ken Carpenter follows the close-knit clan for 18 months in this affecting documentary, winner of the Jubilee Award for Best Documentary at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival.
It’s only 44 minutes, but what a beautiful 44 minutes. The Tommy Waller family is living my dream. As the story unfolds, you will see the journey they take is not only physical, but spiritual and very rewarding.
Free on Netflix or buy your copy today on Amazon!

Their next movie: Betrothed

Brayden and Tali Waller decide to go beyond courtship and experience a betrothal just like in Bible days.
It is a most incredible story. You will laugh. You will cry. And you will be inspired.

Fiddler on the Roof

Don’t forget to visit our community site!
It’s been a busy week. Swimming lessons twice a week. And tomorrow we have company coming from New Guinea to spend a day and a night with us, so we have been extra busy cleaning on this Preparation Day. It feels so good when it’s done!
And now the girls and I are sitting down to watch Fiddler on the Roof.

For the most part it is so full of culture and respect for our Creator and the Scripture (the Good Book). The fact that in our economy we think we are so poor, yet one milk man supplied the entire village with milk. Each man was given a ladel full, about 2 cups I would guess. For his family to share? Or 5 daughters all living in the loft of the house, sharing a room together. How many families in America have come to that point? Maybe more than I know???
I love the blessing they sing at the beginning of the Sabbath. I found it online and posted it here to share with you.
May the Lord protect and defend you.
May He always shield you from shame.
May you come to be
In Israel a shining name.
May you be like Ruth and like Esther.
May you be deserving of praise.
Strengthen them, Oh Lord,
And keep them from the strangers’ ways.
May God bless you and grant you long lives.
(May the Lord fulfill our Sabbath prayer for you.)
May God make you good mothers and wives.
(May He send you husbands who will care for you.)
May the Lord protect and defend you.
May the Lord preserve you from pain.
Favor them, Oh Lord, with happiness and peace.
Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer. Amen.
And when He is asking the Father for a sewing machine for his son-in-law… “You are very busy now. Wars, revolutions, floods, plagues, all those little things that bring people back to you. …” What a wonderful way to look at the purpose for catastrophes.
A sad ending, yet still, they trust their Maker. Oh that we will trust in Him as well, even if He takes away our homes, our belongings, etc He is still in control and He is still good. All the time.

Sunday Stories – Ruth

by Kare in Consider This, Stories That Affect Our Lives Tags: book of ruth, gentile, gleaning, messiah, torah, yeshua

We watched a DVD on the book of Ruth yesterday. It wasn’t very well made, but there were still several things that caught my attention.
1. They showed how beautiful the relationship was between Naomi and Ruth. Ruth was devoted to her and was willing to give up her family, her beliefs and her home and adapt to Naomi’s ways and her God’s ways in order to go with Naomi.
Ruth 1:16
And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you: for wherever you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge: your people shall be my people, and your God my God:
Here is one example of our Father accepting a Gentile into His fold… a Gentile who becomes a part of the heritage of our salvation, from who the SEED of the Messiah comes. Gentiles, even before Yeshua came, were welcomed into His plan if they were willing to follow His ways.
Isaiah 56
Neither let the son of the stranger, that has joined himself to Adonai, speak, saying, "Adonai has utterly separated me from His people": ...For thus says Adonai unto the eunuchs that keep My sabbaths, and choose the things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant;Even unto them will I give in Mine house and within My walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Adonai, to serve Him, and to love the name of Adonai, to be His servants, every one that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of My covenant;Even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer: ... for Mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
2. I also loved the gleaning. One of the laws in the Torah is that everyone who harvested a field had to leave the corners for the poor. The poor could come in and glean from those corners and have food to eat. I think that is so beautiful! So much in our world would be different if we would follow the ways of our Father. “His works are perfect and all His ways are just!” Deuteronomy 32:4a
Leviticus 19
And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, neither shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and stranger: I am Adonai your YHWH.
Sunday Stories – Robert Sheffey

Our family watched this movie in our home this evening. I bought it years ago through Bob Jones University. It’s a true story, based on the life of Robert Sheffey, an itinerant preacher in the 19th century. This one is definitely worth purchasing for your collection. The only place I can find it for sale is here, but it may be available through Bob Jones.
It is a very moving story and you can see the hand of our Father throughout this man’s life. Here are some quotes to whet your appetite.
*************************************
You see the new attitudes creeping in among your leaders.
It’s so hard to understand. They pick the Bible and criticize everything I believe. They do it so smoothly… I don’t know what to think…
(conversation here that I skipped)
But on the other hand there are so many good men who still believe everything I believe…
There are a good many, but they seem to have less and less influence. It’s always the liberal attitudes that are attractive.
You think I must make a choice.
It will not be an easy choice.
What about you?
My choice is easy, or rather, it’s already made. Years ago, when I was denied a preaching license, it was a great sorrow to me. But I determined to follow the leading of the Lord anyway. In these latter years I have come more and more to rejoice that I am not obligated. I do not have to choose between my loyalty to some organization and the Word of God.
When you put it like that, it’s not really much of a choice
It doesn’t seem so to me.
More a matter of courage…
*********************************
Every time we give up a part of our faith to try to fit into the ways of the world, we lose it forever. We lose a precious part of God’s promise, sacrificed to the world – and the world will never give it back.
And someday when the world tells us we can no longer have our religion, except where they say, and God is driven from our schools and our government and our homes, then God’s people can look back and know that our religion was not taken from us. It was given up, handed over, bit by bit until there was nothing left.
