Midweek Minute – Contentment

In the past two days I have read two books, which I will share in more detail on Sunday.  Both of these books were about women who were living overseas.  One a Pakistani woman and her search for Truth and one a missionary in New Guinea.  Their situations were very different, but one thing they both had in common was listening to the Spirit of Adonai and trusting completely in Him from the most simple circumstance to the most unfathomable.  This is true contentment.

O the importance of walking in step with our Messiah, so close that we can feel when He withdraws His presence.  To have a love for Him so deep that we cannot function until we find out the cause and seek to correct it in order to bring that presence back into our lives.

And the love and devotion that is so intense that even the most vile of situations does not dampen it, but only draws us closer to Him.

I think that at least for now, life in our country does not easily lend itself to this type of intense relationship with Adonai, but that doesn’t mean it is not possible.  We can fight the many distractions of materialism, tradition, urgency and more in order to find that Place to Abide.

1 : to remain stable or fixed in a state
2 : to continue in a place
3 : to dwell
