My Favorite Flaky Pie Crust

Flaky Pie Crust
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup ice cold water
  • 3 teaspoons arrowroot powder

Lightly mix flour, arrowroot powder and salt

Use pastry blender to cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Sprinkle in cold water, a Tablespoon at a time, mixing  lightly with a fork after each addition until pastry just holds together

Shape with hands into a ball and refrigerate 30 min.

Roll out on lightly floured surface and use as directed in your recipe!  This should be enough for 2 pies or a top and bottom crust.
