Homemade Ice Cream!

Wow!! I was recently on one of my online groups  and one lady was talking about an ice cream maker that she bought from Amazon.  After reading what she said and then all of the reviews on Amazon and other places online, I decided to get one for our family too.

It’s called a Cuisinart ICE-21 Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker and below you can see what it looks like.

We have had one of the old-fashioned kind of ice cream maker for, maybe 20 years?  I picked it up at a garage sale.  It’s in great shape, but I never seem to have the salt and crushed ice, so it has sat in the back room collecting dust.

We have now had this Cuisanart Ice Cream Maker for a few days and have made vanilla ice cream and a mixed berry sorbet.  It requires no ice and no salt.  So easy!  And it only takes 15 or 20 minutes too! (a few minutes longer for bigger batches) I wondered if 1 and 1/2 quarts was going to be enough for our family, since we usually devour 1/2 gallon in one sitting, but the ice cream is so rich, it fills us up.  I would liken it to Cold Stone Creamery ice cream both in flavor and creaminess.  (If you think you need more than 1.5 quarts, you could always purchase an additional Freezer Bowl, that fits the ICE-20 Ice Cream Maker  This would also be handy as you could always have one in the freezer while you are using the other one )

Oh, and it’s listed at almost half price at Amazon!  Hurry and get yours today =)

Lately we have been leaning more towards a cow. (We go back and forth.)
For now the focus is the fields and gardens. Brody just constructed a greenhouse…I hope to post about in the next few days.
