Essential oils are one of the many natural solutions for healing and have been used for thousands of years. These oils can safely be used both topically and aromatically.
Topically, the best methods for application are on the pulse points or the bottom of the foot. Also they can be applied to the area that will directly benefit from the oils.
In many cases it is best to first dilute the essential oil. Not only does this make your oils go further, but a lot of oils in their concentrated form are far too potent to be used without dilution. Fractionated coconut oil is a wonderful oil to use for dilution, as is Almond oil. Simply mix the essential oil or oils that you desire with the base oil in a roller bottle and apply to your skin.
Regarding aromatherapy, using a cold steam diffuser will dispense the oil throughout a room while not using heat to change the healing properties of the essential oil. Emotional balance and healing is possible through aromatherapy because of a physiological process that occurs in the brain.
